Open source software (OSS) is invaluable here at Windward Apps. It's not only us that reap the benefits, either. The time- and money-saving advantages of OSS translate directly to our clients, thanks to the numerous community-built tools that allow us to develop better applications faster and with less overhead.
Today we're excited to announce our program to give back to the community. We're open sourcing some our business tools, starting with MarkupAndChat and Budgeter. The source code can be found on Github. Stay tuned for more of our apps to be open sourced.

MarkupAndChat
MarkupAndChat is an app for chatting with teammates about a specific image. The application workflow is to upload an image, mark it up with drawing tools, have a realtime chat conversation, and save the results to a file. This is a specific yet surprisingly common use-case. Whether you're a media company, photography team, construction office, project manager, designer, or something entirely different, you can find yourself in a scenario where your team would save time and money using this app. Folks have used it for meeting minutes, asset approval, website design discussions, and more. BudgeterBudgeter is a simple tool for tracking the paid status of monthly bills. Some of its nifty, time-saving features are:
- Graph visualizations to get an easy picture of your spending
- Consolidating links to your accounts' homepages
- A basic cash flow calculator
- Easy copying of previous month's bills
